An End of an Era

Over the weekend, Court disassembled Charlotte's crib. She's transitioned to a big girl bed like a rock star so we no longer have a need for the crib. {sigh}

It took my breath away watching Charlotte's nursery quickly turn into a bedroom outfitted for a young girl. It made me wonder what I will feel like when this room is empty but for a few mementos left behind as evidence that indeed a child of mine once lived here.
{sigh}

I guess we'll just cross that bridge when we get there....in 15 years. Sounds like an eternity but I know it will be here in two heartbeats.
In the mean time, I'm taking my empty crib syndrome one rocky, emotional, sometimes-tear-filled-day at a time.

Milestones

Two big milestones in our household:

First, Grace has been wearing big girl panties consistently and without mistakes for almost two weeks! I think we are closing in on diaper-less days! Woo hoo!

And Valentine's Day marked not only the annual day in which we celebrate our loved ones, it also marked the first time Charlotte slept in her big girl bed! I wasn't able to snap a picture for fear of the flash waking her up. I did manage to take a picture of the monitor that shows her sleeping in her room. But I thought a photo of the night vision monitor might be a bit creepy to share.

I am currently watching her on the monitor "napping" while I type. So far, no sleeping has occurred but she hasn't gotten out of bed in over an hour! Looks like we will have an "open" crib in the near future...what to do? What to do?!

Just a Little Love

We celebrated Valentine's Day this year early....early in the morning that is!

All of our special celebrations tend to fall on school days when I am the parent helper!
So to make sure we got to celebrate, I got up at 4 am, sprinkled a little love around the living room and then woke the girls up to get the celebrating "on the road"...if you know what I mean!

The girls awoke to a special breakfast table set just for them! There's just something about waking up to your special surprises as opposed to waiting the whole day.

I made little heart boxes for each girl that contained special candy treats!

I'll have to get a picture of the sides. The sides are what are really fun!

A few little treasures from Mommy and Daddy and Grama and Grampa...namely Lady and the Tramp so we have something new to watch listen to in the car.

And we found a special deal on DIY mailboxes at Wal-Mart that we couldn't resist!

Grace helped with the stickers.

A few flowers, the traditional doilies and BOOM you are in the mood for Valentine's day!

I didn't have time to run to the store to get fresh donuts with red and pink sprinkles - that was the original game plan - so I opted for the powdered sugar kind (not valentine's day-y but the girls LOVE them) and some heart shaped toast with peanut butter. And just so it wasn't all junk food...some strawberries too!
As soon as Grace saw the donuts she thought Elfie - our Elf on the Shelf - had come to stay with us again. Remember our North Pole Breakfast??

All in all, our Valentine's Day was special, fun and quick!
Off to clean up all that powdered sugary goodness and head to school!

Hope you had a fun day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Anyone who knows me gets inundated with cards at just about every holiday. I have a small obsession with cards and with the mail. (I consider it doing my part to save the USPS from bankruptcy).

Valentine's day is no exception and now that Grace is in school and has friends...I figured we should do something special and fun.  And I couldn't leave Miss Charlotte out! So here is what the girls are giving to friends and family this year.

I got the idea here. When I saw the article in the magazine, I knew we had to do it! To make it that much better, we had ALL the stuff...even the PVC pipe! (Another reason I love living on a farm!)

I took the pictures one afternoon after nap time. Charlotte had a particularly hard time waking up that day and our "photo shoot" was a bit of a disaster but it just made for a "better" final product. hehe The background was what I used at Grace's Hello Kitty party and the girls already had the heart t-shirts (hard to see in these pictures!)

I spent a few dollars on scrap book paper and suckers and BOOM!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope you have a very sweet day!

xoxo

Singin' in the Rain!

Not sure what it's doing in your neck of the woods but we've been getting a few rain showers lately.

We took full advantage of singing in the rain today!
